A Reference Architecture for Semantic Knowledge Coordination

In this paper, we present iCoord, a reference architecture for knowledge coordination in open, multi-knowledge information systems. iCoord is a peeroriented architecture where each node represents a single agent (e.g., an enterprise, a peer) which performs knowledge design as a consequence of or in order to collaborate/interoperate with other external partners for knowledge sharing. A key aspect of iCoord is the capability to support knowledge design not only with the traditional “from scratch” approach, but also by enforcing (re)use through alignment and/or assimilation of externally harvested knowledge chunks.
